Anas Sarwar is to focus his campaign on constituency seats in the final few days before Scotland goes to the polls.
The Scottish Labour leader said only his party can win against the SNP in constituencies across Scotland.
Out of the 129 seats at Holyrood, 73 are constituency seats elected by the first-past-the-post method.
Before polls opening on Thursday, Mr Sarwar said that only his party can deliver change in Scotland.
Mr Sarwar said: “We have all seen the mess John Swinney and the SNP have made over those 20 years.
“Our NHS is struggling, family budgets are under pressure and too many people feel they are paying more and getting less.
“The SNP has had 20 years and Scotland has paid the price.
“I’m asking people to give me five years to fix the mess, get the basics right and build a better future for Scotland.
“This election is a straight choice – only Scottish Labour can win in constituencies across Scotland, beat the SNP and deliver the change Scotland needs.”
At the weekend, the Scottish Labour leader visited a karate dojo in Glasgow to highlight his plans for the NHS – saying: “a Scottish Labour government I lead will give NHS waiting lists the chop”.
SNP campaign director and candidate for Edinburgh Central, Angus Robertson, said: “The SNP is the only party focused on people’s priorities – supporting people with the cost of living by putting in place a cap on the cost of essential food items, enhancing childcare support and capping bus fares at £2.
“We are asking people to vote for a government to get things done, Labour and Reform are asking people to vote for opposition to stop things happening. The SNP want to lower your bills, the other parties are trying to stop us.
“The best way to get a government which supports people with the cost of living, locks out Nigel Farage and delivers the fresh start of independence is to vote for an SNP majority on Thursday.”
