A body found in the water off a Scottish island has been identified as that of a missing monk.
Justin Evans, 24, was reported missing from the Orkney island of Papa Stronsay on Sunday April 12.
A man’s body was found in the water near the island of Stronsay at about 7.25am on Wednesday May 6.
Police said the body has now been formally identified as that of Mr Evans and his relatives are aware.
Officers said there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Mr Evans, also known as Brother Ignatius, was last seen at the Golgotha Monastery on Papa Stronsay just before midnight on April 11.
The Diocese of Aberdeen previously expressed its “deep sadness” at what it referred to as the “disappearance and presumed death” of the 24-year-old, originally from New Zealand and a member of the Redemptorist Community.
