An 18-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a car sped away from police, injuring officers and a passenger in the process.

At around 9.30am on Tuesday, police spoke to the occupants of a car on Fleming Way, Hamilton.

The driver sped away from the scene while the officers were attempting to speak to him, later crashing into a stationary vehicle.

The 18-year-old driver allegedly fled the scene, but was arrested later the same day.

Two officers and a 22-year-old passenger were taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The 18-year-old driver was charged in connection with attempted murder and road traffic offences, and is due in Hamilton Sheriff Court on Thursday.
