Firefighters remain at the scene of a large blaze which broke out at a garage in South Lanarkshire.

The fire has largely been extinguished and crews are dampening down hotspots on Bothwell Road, Uddingston, which led to the roof of a building collapsing.

On Tuesday morning, the road remained closed as emergency services continued to deal with the incident.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said it was called to a “well-developed” fire at 6pm.

Footage on social media showed large plumes of smoke billowing from the building, which is near a petrol station.
