BBC radio presenter Nicky Campbell has said his daughter was left “badly injured” following a hit-and-run involving a cyclist on an e-bike.

The 65-year-old, who also presents ITV show Long Lost Family with Davina McCall, added that his daughter Lilla along with her sisters and a friend were later flashed by a drunk man who entered the trauma room at King’s College Hospital where she was being treated.

In a social media post, Campbell said: “It’s been a long and emotional night.

“My daughter Lilla was hit by an e bike hit-and-run last night in Peckham – hopefully there is CCTV. Her sisters were with her.

“She is badly injured but now at home.”

Campbell, who presents a mid-morning show on BBC Radio 5 Live, went on to say that the incident “could have been so much worse” and said his family had been “incredibly lucky”.

He continued: “When she and her sisters and a friend arrived at A&E a drunk entered the trauma room where they were and exposed himself to them.

“The police were there and he has been arrested. The police were magnificent. I spoke to them when I arrived at 3.15 and he is now in custody.

“We all want to say a massive thank you to our amazing police, the wonderful staff at @kingscollegehospital – nurses and doctors. Calum and the team. From the bottom of our hearts, they were all bloody superb.”

The Metropolitan Police said it was aware of the crash and confirmed a man had been arrested following the alleged flashing incident.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called to King’s College Hospital at 12.40am on Saturday, June 20, following reports of an indecent exposure.

“Officers attended the hospital and arrested a 41-year-old man.

“He will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Monday June 22.”

Campbell, who is also known for presenting BBC music programme Top Of The Pops and ITV gameshow Wheel Of Fortune in the 1980s and 1990s, is married to journalist Tina Ritchie and the couple have four children together.
