The Tartan Army has brought “indescribable” energy to the city of Boston, US nationals have said.

With Scotland’s national team preparing to face Morocco on Friday, US citizens have been praising the nation’s football fans since they flocked to the Massachusetts city for the Haiti game.

Caroline Racio, 34, and Amber Dubois, 30, commented on the “upbeat” feeling the Tartan Army brought to the Boston Red Sox baseball game against the Texas Rangers on Saturday.

Ms Racio, who lives near Boston, said: “The entire stadium was alive with people, and I think the Scottish fans had something to do with that. It’s the energy they bring, it’s indescribable.

“I think when people come to these sporting events, it’s something that brings everybody together, and having so many Scots in one spot was overwhelming for the city of Boston. We should have been prepared, but we weren’t.”

Ms Dubois said: “Yeah, the energy has been much more up beat, this game was insane. The level of energy, the singing, all of it. They brought a lot of good energy here.

“Clearly, if there’s no Scotland, there’s no party.

“You guys are drinking us out of house and home, and bringing the party with you. It’s so awesome.”

Isabelle Wohlleber, and Kelly Bopp, both 23, said that while football, or “soccer”, is not a particularly popular sport in the states, it has sparked their interest due to the influx of fans.

Ms Wohlleber said: “It’s definitely not a priority, but I feel like a lot of the bars have been showing it, so we’ll watch it.

“I think it’s great, the Tartan Army has really brought a different atmosphere to everything, even just like walking around the city, it’s so much more eventful now, because people that haven’t been here are appreciating the kind of things like we’ve taken for granted.”

Ms Bopp added: “I wouldn’t have watched it by my own choosing, but we went out last night, and it was on at the bars, so I’ve been enjoying kind of getting into it, and hearing everyone’s opinions, like even my Uber drivers are like, ‘Oh, I’m rooting for this team or that team’.

“I love the energy, the atmosphere of the city this weekend. I think it’s really great vibes, and the Scottish people have brought the energy for sure.

“Everyone’s been so friendly, like they just want to chat, and I do think, in you know, today’s day and age, with so much divisions in the world, I do think it’s a really cool thing that the World Cup has really made an effort on bringing people together from different spots.

“We also did get mooned by a Scottish person in the middle of the street, which was really funny. No, it was funny. We didn’t judge Scottish people more for it.”

Ms Wohlleber added: “I told Kelly I hope we don’t run out of beer, because we don’t drink like this, but I think it’s great.”

Ms Bopp said: “I mean, I thought that Boston people drank a lot because a lot of people are from Ireland or of Irish descent here, but the people really outdid us with the beer drinking for sure.”
