Unemployment in Scotland has increased slightly, the latest figures show.
The Office for National Statistics said on Tuesday the unemployment rate for people aged 16 and older was 4.1% between December 2025 and February 2026, an increase of 0.4% on the previous quarter.
The overall unemployment rate for the whole of the UK in the latest quarter was 4.9%, meaning Scotland’s rate was slightly lower.
The revised estimate of payrolled workers in February 2026 shows a decrease of 6,000 from January 2026, and provisional estimates for March 2026 show a further decrease of 11,000.

The employment rate among Scots aged 16-64 was 74% in the three months to February – a decrease of 0.7% on the previous quarter.
There were 112,000 people aged 16 and over out of work in Scotland in the latest quarter, according to the figures.
About 2,645 million people aged 16 and over were in employment over the three months.
